A Little Gigi's and a New Favorite...

I personally feel if you are having a bad day, that you should run right out and get yourself a cupcake.  Better yet, get two, one might not be enough.  Words to live by.

Each week I check out Gigi's website and see what new cupcake I can try next.  I had decided that I should try Miss Princess and Wedding Cake.  I am not going to lie, I had tried the Wedding Cake before and loved it.  Unfortunately, it was prior to my "I want to try ever flavor" challenge, so I did not have a picture.  I can only think of one way to fix that problem...

Here they are in all their glory.  Miss Princess and Wedding Cake.

Miss Princess was a little surprising.  There is a hit of strawberry in the cake mix and it was quite deliciously.  I was hesitant to try it because while I love strawberries, I am not a huge fan of strawberry in cake or ice cream.  Miss Princess did not disappoint.  I think it was the cream cheese frosting that sealed the deal.  Bravo Gigi, bravo.

And Wedding Cake.  I may as well just stop the challenge right now and concede defeat.  This has to be the best cupcake I have had.  It is so delicious.  The odd thing is, it is such a simple cupcake.  It really does taste like wedding cake and I get the feeling that I could eat about four of them without hesitation.  This should come to no surprise because at weddings I have been known to eat multiple pieces of cake.

Even Ken loved the Wedding Cake cupcake.  Yes, I was nice enough to give him a bite.

Friday Fun Facts...

  • Ken and I have reached a milestone.  We purchased a brand new HVAC unit and had it installed on Monday.  I know, we really know how to spend our money.  I told Ken that this makes us official, real adults.
  • At our old house, we had a fox that used to visit us in our backyard.  I named him Francis.  Well guess what, I am 90% certain that Francis has relocated and lives behind our new house.  I saw a fox the other day and I told Ken it must be Francis.  Who else could it be?
  • I have spent the last three months of my life watching all of the Lost episodes.  I watched the finale on Saturday and I liked the ending.  I am sure if I had spent six years of my life watching the show, I would have been upset, but since it was only three months, I am at peace with it.
  • I am shocked at the amount of free time I now have after finishing Lost.  It was kind of like I was being held hostage and had to watch as many episodes I could.  I told Ken that I am getting a lot more sleep now that I do not have to stay up watching it.
  • I have one week left of Psychology.  I absolutely without a doubt despise that class.  I cannot wait for it to be over.
  • I got my hair highlighted last night and decided to move my part to the other side of my head.  Life changing decisions going on over here.
Happy Friday!

Dance Party...

A few weeks ago we had the besties over for a little grilling.  It ended up turning into a little dance party with all of us gathered in the living room watching Avery and Evan dance.  They were quite the crowd pleasers.

These two were down right getting jiggy with it

The love to break it down with a little Pitt Bull

Along with the dancing came some Husky Chasin'

It was also discovered that Avery LOVES Kya.  She followed Kya around all night.  Jill may have inquired about how much Kya charges per hour to babysit.  Kya may have responded with there is no amount of money in the world that would cause me to watch two children!  She was so good with them, just confused as to what the little people were doing in her house.  :)

This girl is such a mess!

I love these three girls so much!

Saturday Happenings...

On Saturday Ken and I decided to drive over to Lawrence to spend the afternoon.  We had a little lunch, walked around and shopped, made our way over to the Natural History Museum on the KU campus, and finished off with ice cream.  It was the perfect little Saturday afternoon.

Walking around Mass Street

We had lunch at Jefferson's and I really liked the dollar bills all over the walls.

Outside the museum

 I like turtles!

Baby Opossum Hunting...

When you are a Siberian Husky living in suburbia, you might think that you evenings will be boring.  You lay around in your backyard and day dream.  Day dream about catching a squirrel or maybe a bunny.

Deep down, you know better.  You know that you would never ever catch one, let alone hurt it if you did.  In fact, you surrendered your Husky Hunting card months ago.  It is just not worth it.

Then, while you are laying in the darkness by the fence feeling the breeze, you suddenly hear something.  You assume it is one of the Peterson's (the rabbits formerly known as the Robinson's), but the sound seems a little different.

You get rather excited, almost as excited as you do when you go for a run with your mom.  You did it!  You caught something.  Please collect your Husky Hunting card and call your friends Charlee and Boise to tell them what YOU caught.

By the way, the word "caught" is being used rather loosely.

Your dad hears commotion and sees you pacing back and forth with excitement and comes outside to see what all the fuss is about.  There in the shadows, he finds your new friend.

Paul, the baby opossum.

You feel a sense of pride as your dad calls for your mom to come outside.  You think, wow, my mom gets to see this baby opossum because I caught one.  I caught a baby opossum.  You say it a few more times only to realize that you are a 50 pound Siberian Husky and the opossum is about four pounds and a baby.

You start to feel embarrassed and then you remember your brush with what can only be assumed is mama opossum last year.  Suddenly, you really start to feel like a bad ass Husky.  You run around the back yard, come back by the baby opossum, pee, and kick your legs marking your territory.

Finally, your parents make you go inside.  They make your joy come to an end.  That does not mean that you do not stay up all night just hoping and waiting to see another opossum.

And if it comes back, you will definitely catch it again and brag to Charlee and Boise about how you have caught a opossum and they have not.

-Kya, the Opossum Hunter.

I Missed You Gigi's!

I really thought about trying to take a doze of cupcakes with me to the Grand Canyon to enjoy on the North Rim.  I thought long and hard about it, but realized that they may not do too well be in the desert.  So, I decided I would wait until I got home.  Although, a Gigi's cupcake would have been the best thing ever after hiking 21 miles!

Meet the new contenders!

Banana Cream Pie and Double Stuff

I bought the Banana Cream Pie for Ken, I really did.  It is not my fault that he did not eat it.  I offered it to him, he declined, so I ate it.  Isn't that how it works at everyone's house?  Yeah, I know I had already eaten my cupcake, but that is not the point.

The Banana Cream Pie was what I like to call a sleeper.  It is not something I would normally buy.  I am not a huge fan of bananas.  This usually shocks people because for whatever reason, all runners like bananas.  Well, I do not.

Anyway, back to the cupcake.  It was really good!  I liked it.  It was not super banana-ie, which I am sure helped.  Also, you can probably slap buttercream frosting on a brick and I would tell you I love it.

Clearly, the Double Stuff was meant for me.  Something that has an Oreo ontop or looks like a Oreo?

Sold.  I will take it.

It was really good.  I am still learning that chocolate cake, as much as it pains me to say this, is starting to not be my favorite anymore.  I know, chocolate cake Gods, please do not hate me.  This cake was a dark chocolate cake, which I really liked.  Again, it had the wonderful buttercream frosting layered ontop and I ate every morsel of the darn thing.

At this point, the Candy Bar Crunch is still in the lead as the favorite. Don't worry, I will be back next week with more cupcakes.

A St. Louis Weekend...

A few weeks ago, we went to St. Louis for a long weekend.  When I say we, that also means this sweet little pumpkin:

This suburban girl quickly changes to a city girl when we stay in downtown St. Louis.

The view when we woke up on Friday morning.

I worked on Friday and Ken played golf with a friend.  Afterwards we got to go watch our beloved Cardinals at Busch Stadium.  They ended up losing, but we had a good time.  Other than it was HOT.  It was so hot.  I do not remember just sitting and sweating like that before.

Us girls before the game

We ended up seating with a lot of Rangers fans, but they were all very nice and fun.

Yadi, Yadi!

On Saturday morning, Ken took me to do something that I had never done before.  We went to Anheuser Busch for the brewery tour.  It was a lot of fun.  It was very interesting to hear all of the history.

Of course we saw my favorite, the Clydesdales.  Ken said that the tour could have ended right then and I would have been happy.  He is correct.  I love those things.

Other than the Arch, the most photographed landmark in St. Louis.

The chandelier inside the brewing area.  It was so pretty!

Ken enjoying a Straw-ber-rita inside the tasting area.  The funniest thing about this weekend is that I got carded twice.  Once at the baseball game and once at the brewery.

After the brewery tour, we had a little business to tend to.  Ken bought me a nice little present.  I was so excited!

This girl ended her day with a walk in downtown and then an elevator ride back to the apartment.  I think she can get used to the city life.

It was such a fun weekend!

Photo a Day...Week 21...

Day 148:  This is Chester, Chester the Chipmunk.  I saved his life.  I found him outside my office and gave him water and a little bit of a granola bar.  I am pretty sure his mom left him to die.  Whore.  Spoiler alert, Chester is still alive and well.

Day 149:  A selfie with the cats?  I am pretty sure they are both trying to figure out how to get down and kill me.  That Angel holds a grudge.

Day 150:  Having drinks poolside is good for the soul.

Day 151:  If you pick it up and spin it, you will see an Indian Chief in the rock.  Sure Ken.  Sure.

Day 152:  We hiked from the South Rim to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Day 153:  Hanging out on the North Rim.

Day 154:  Hiking from the North Rim to the South Rim

Day 155:  I love you IN-N-OUT!
