10 Years...

Ten years ago today, which was a random Tuesday, Ken and I got married on a beach in Negril, Jamaica.  10 years!  I truly cannot believe it has been that long, but at the same time, I do not remember life without Ken and I being together.  The last 10 years have been filled with a lot of great memories.  Here is to many, many more!

Here is a little video I put together with some of our adventures over the last 10 years.

Happy Anniversary Ken!!

The Arizona Biltmore...

Last weekend Ken and I had a little getaway to Scottsdale, AZ for a weekend at the Arizona Biltmore.  It was a little pre-anniversary celebration complete with sunshine, wine, and pina coladas.  It was absolutely perfect and just what we needed!

We had an early morning flight on Saturday morning and arrived to the hotel around 8:30 am.  We quickly changed and made our way to the pool for cocktails and sunshine!

It was a beautiful, blue sky day!

Ken is ready for the pool!  If you look behind Ken, there is a falconer and one of his hawks.  We talked to him for a bit and apparently the Biltmore hires him on the weekends to walk around with his hawk known as The Hitman, to scare off the birds.  The best part about this whole scenario is that after watching him all day, I told Ken that the hawk was the most well behaved creature I have ever seen and that I was shocked that he did not try to escape.  Ken looked at me and laughed and told me that the bird was, indeed, on a leash.  Yeah, I did not realize that.  We laughed about it for the rest of the day!  Innocence!

Pina coladas are one of my favorite parts about staying at the Biltmore.

Enjoying the sunshine together

Our friend Barb met us for lunch at the pool.  It has been a year and a half since we have gotten to see her, so it was amazing to catch up with her.  After lunch, we continued to get some sunshine and swim around in the pool.

Strawberry daiquiri anyone?

Ken is the only person that comes to the desert and forgets his sunglasses.

Our afternoon at the pool was extremely relaxing.

After our pool time, we went into the Ocatilla lounge for wine and appetizers.  We had plans to get dinner, but we were full from all of the delicious snacks in the lounge.  We walked around the property before going back to our room for a little TV and an early bed time.

We woke up on Sunday and went for a long walk on the trail that runs along the canals outside of the resort.  I ran a little and then we had breakfast in the Ocatilla lounge.  During this time we learned that Ken's parents were still in old town Scottsdale so we agreed to meet up with them for lunch a little later.  We spent the remainder of the morning walking around enjoying the beautiful grounds of the resort.

The beautiful Biltmore grounds

Every US President since Hebert Hoover has stayed at the Biltmore.  Ronald and Nancy Reagan spent their honeymoon at this resort.  It is easy to see why.

More of the beautiful grounds

Bill and Linda picked us up and we went to Postino for lunch.  We had delicious wine and the most amazing bruschetta ever.

After lunch, Ken and I went to the pool.  We went to the Ocatilla pool for little quieter afternoon.

Double fisting pina coladas after the bartender over made.

After the pool, we grabbed wine and appetizers in the Ocatilla lounge and relaxed around the grounds.

This turned out to be Ken's favorite picture of the entire trip.  Figures!

We decided to play mini golf on the course that is on the grounds.  Have I mentioned how much I despise golf of any type?

The next morning was more running, walking, and relaxing before we took an Uber to In-n-Out before making our way to the airport.

Better than any meal you can get at a resort!

We had such an amazing little getaway together.  Thank you Ken for spoiling me so much!

Anniversary Celebration...

This year for our anniversary dinner, we went to a local Kansas City favorite, The Rieger.  We were lucky enough to get to sit at the chefs' table and watch the chefs at work.  It was a really fun experience. We both love the Rieger and both had delicious meals.  Ken is still talking about the Kansas City strip that he had, it was THAT good.

I was in love with my dessert that I had.  It was the frozen souffle and it was amazing.

My amazing dessert

After dinner, we went down to Manifesto for a few cocktails.  This has to be one of my favorite places to enjoy a drink.  It is lit up by candlelight and I just love the entire experience.

Taking selfies in the dark and I was telling Ken to keep his eyes open!

Such an amazing night celebrating our anniversary!   (dress)

Thank you Ken for taking me out and spoiling me!  I appreciate you making all of the arrangements so I did not have to do a thing.  Here's to another 8 years or so!!

5 Years...

I am not exactly sure how it has been five years already, but it has.

I hope the next five years are filled with as much adventure as the first five!  Well, except for the whole house thing, I can go the rest of my life without dealing with that again!

Happy Anniversary Ken!

Friday Favorites: Wedding Pictures...

Our big five year wedding anniversary is coming up!

I can hardly believe it has been five years.  How is that possible?

Below are my favorite wedding pictures from that gorgeous May day in Jamaica.

I loved my dress!

I turned to face the camera and Ken is talking to the people next to us about how hot he was.  Looking at this picture made me realize how truly short I am.

For once, I am taller than Ken.  :)

I feel like this is a summary of our life.  Sure, Ken is probably laughing at me laughing at myself, but you know, ultimately, I made him laugh.

Love you Ken!

Three Years Down...

It is hard to believe that it has been three years! This past year was a tough one, but we managed to make it thru all the tough times with laughter, joke cracking, and a little arguing. Thanks for taking care of me Ken and here's to at least three more! :)

Winefest...

Thursday was not only our anniversary, but it was also the March of Dimes Annual Winefest.  We were joined by our friends, Rob, Michelle, Nick, Melissa, and Scott for an evening of wine tasting along with trying wonderful food by a few local Kansas City restaurants.

We enjoyed the event for the third year in a row and hope that everyone will be able to attend again next year.

Countdown for vacation is officially on!  Only two days of work until we head to Phoenix!

Ken and me at Winefest.  Doesn't Ken look so handsome in his suit?

**Thanks for the picture Melissa!

Anniversary Dinner...

I really, really hate my smile with braces.  One month down, 23 to go!

Ken at dinner.  Love those blue eyes!

The chocolate sack.  I did pretty well, but still...

Defeated, I just could not finish it, which is odd for me when it comes to dessert!

Since our anniversary was on a Wednesday this year, we waited until Saturday to go out to dinner.  Ken was kind enough to take me to McCormick and Schmick's on the Plaza.  It was so yummy!  We both had a different kind of tilapia, a bottle of Pino, and dessert.  For the first time ever, a dessert defeated me.  I was not able to eat the entire chocolate sack like I thought I could.  I did give it a great effort!  It was very tasty.  I did not get a photo of us together before the camera battery died!

Thank you Ken for a wonderful first annivesary!

May 26, 2009...

How is it possible that it has already been a year?  What a great day May 26, 2009 was!
