Ironman Training...Week 10

After last week with moving and unpacking, I was trying to get back on track this week.  I was delayed on getting on the bike until later in the week, but I am pretty satisfied with everything else I was able to get completed with my life being turned upside down.

Monday
2100 yard swim

Tuesday
4 mile run with Kya

Wednesday
2500 yard swim

Thursday
Rest Day

Friday
1250 yard swim
3.25 mile run 5x400

Saturday
1 hour bike trainer

Sunday
45 minutes bike trainer
6.25 mile run with Kya
25 minutes biking with Ken

Yesterday's brick workout was tough.  It was a great dose of reality about how far I have to go to pull this thing off.  Yesterday marks six months until the race.  Yikes.

Ironman Training...Week 8

Last week was a little tough.  I had a strange shin pain where my stress fracture was last year.  You know me, I instantly think my leg is fractured again.  I skipped running all week until Friday to see how it felt it was fine, but it was sore from where I kept poking on it to see if I had any pain like I did last year.  Good one.

We also were a little busy picking out furniture and packing. I will have a complete blog post about this with lots of details.  We are moving into a new house this weekend.  We could not possibly be more excited.

Monday
1650 yard swim

Tuesday
Rest Day

Wednesday
2000 yard swim - 33 laps nonstop!!!!  That is a full mile people!!!!!

Thursday
1 hour bike trainer

Friday
1300 yard swim
3 mile run

Saturday
1:45 trainer ride - can you say sore hoo hoo???

Sunday
6 mile run with Kya

I was thrilled with my swim on Wednesday when I swam a mile without stopping!  It was amazing.  We spent our entire Sunday at Nebraska Furniture Mart looking at furniture, so I was happy that I was able to fit my run in.  Sure, I could have gotten up at 6:00 am and got it in early, but I am not that type of girl.  Weekends are for sleeping in.

Happy Birthday Ken!

Ken is so sweet that he had to be born on Valentines' Day!  Here are a few things I adore about my husband:

He is always willing to be my Sherpa

He always laughs at my jokes and sometimes, he might just be laughing at me.  :)

He pesters me on a daily basis, always keeping me on my toes

He is always up for hiking with his girls

He is handsome
He likes to travel

He is great at making cocktails

He has pretty blue eyes

I could go on for days.  Happy Birthday Ken!  I am so happy that you are my husband!

Ironman Training...Week 7

Saturday night Ken and I were watching a little Super Bowl coverage of the players being interviewed about how well they will sleep the night before the big game.  I looked at Ken and told him that I have no idea how I will sleep the night before Ironman Kentucky.  Yikes.  Ken immediately went into food mode and told me how much food I will have load up on the week before.  A bagel every morning for week, I can handle that.  :)

Monday
Rest day.  I enjoyed every moment of it.  :)

Tuesday
5 mile run with 4x400
45 minutes bike trainer

Wednesday
2500 yard swim

Thursday
4 mile run with Kya
45 minutes bike trainer

Friday
1650 yard swim

Saturday
1:35 bike trainer

Sunday
9 mile run

My swim on Wednesday was interesting.  It started off with me thinking there was no way I would ever be able to complete 2.4 miles of an Ironman.  It was going so badly, that I thought I would quit after my first 500 yards.  I made myself stick to it, and I am glad I did.  I was only going to swim 1650 yards, but something wonderful happened.  I was just swimming away and the next thing I knew, I had just swam 25 laps or 1250 yards without stopping.  This was huge for me!  I could have kept going, but I had dinner plans with a friend.  I was so excited.  I called Ken and he told me what a big deal this was.  The theme of the night became, Hi, my name is Keri and I am kind of a big deal.  :)

I am getting a little faster with swimming too.  Don't get me wrong, I am no Dara Torres, but I get the job done.

Dinner with the Girls...

Last Friday after I swam my little heart out, I showered and got ready to go meet some of my friends for dinner.  It had been a while since the entire group could get together, so it was very much needed girl time.  We had a few bottles of wine and laughed non-stop.

I did get to share with them my adventures in the pool, which I think they enjoyed.  I mean, most people find it entertaining when you talk about spitting on old men at the pool and walking in on old naked ladies in the shower. :)

Most of the other girls continued on for a few more drinks, but I declined due to an early morning hike date planned with Ken and Kya.

Jill and me.  T-minus about three months or so until the braces come off!

All of us girls, minus one Jill
Thanks for the pictures Melissa!

Ironman Training....Week 6

Let's see what week six looked like shall we?

Monday
1150 yard swim.  This was an awful swim too.  I could not get into a groove.

Tuesday
Run - 4 miles on the treadmill

Wednesday
2250 yard swim

Thursday
4 mile run with Kya

Friday
1250 yard swim

Saturday
11 mile hike with Ken and Kya
1 hour on the bike trainer

Sunday
6 mile run

I was obviously lacking on the bike this week.  It was a little difficult, just because I had to get my hair highlighted on Tuesday.  A girl has got to have priorities.  I figured I better slack off now because once the Summer hits, I will be a slave to Ironman.

Happy Groundhog Day!
