Friday Favorites: Desserts...

Desserts, one of my favorite things ever.  I have always had a sweet tooth.  I remember as a kid being bribed with sweet treats.  Quite honestly, I can still be bribed with sweet treats!

This is really hard for me to pick what my favorite desserts are because I love so many.  Below are indeed, my favorites.

Brownies, I am in love with brownies!  A big warm brownie with ice cream is my favorite dessert ever.  Bonefish Grill has one of the best brownies I have ever had.

Brownie from Bonefish Grill

Pumpkin cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory is one of the best things ever invented.  I am sad to say I did not get a slice last year.

Of course the birthday girl ordered pumpkin cheesecake!

I am also madly in love with the Chocolate Sack at McCormick and Schmidts.  To date, it is the only dessert I have not been able to finish.  I had about two bites left that I just could not finish.  ***Hangs head in shame.***I really think if I take it on again that victory will be mine.  Perhaps that is where I should go for dinner a few weeks after Ironman Louisville to celebrate???

No, I did not share with Ken.  Stopping judging.

Those are my top three favorite desserts!  Lucky for me, Bonefish Grill and Cheesecake Factory are both right by our house, so that means plenty of treats.  What are your favorite desserts?

Kya Goes to St. Louis...

We just returned from a three day weekend in St. Louis and of course, Miss Kya was in attendance.  That girl loves going to St. Louis and staying downtown where she quickly becomes a city husky.

Ken and I went to the Cardinal game on Friday night.  We got to watch the Cardinals beat the Dodgers, so it was a great night!

Kya did what most huskies do and she hit all the highlights of downtown.  She visited the Arch, the old Capitol, and even Busch Stadium.  She was a busy girl!

Kya thinks that everyone should get a selfie in front of the Arch!

Kya loved Busch Stadium, but not all the drunk people wandering around the stadium that were hitting on her.

Kya also checked out the new Ball Park Village area around the stadium.

All of the site-seeing definitely required plenty of time to relax.  Thank goodness Kya had a spacious apartment to relax in!

Site-seeing is exhausting!

Ken went on his own adventure on Saturday with one of his friends.  He was sweet enough to bring me back a little surprise from a small town candy store!

Delicious truffles!  There originally were five, but you know, I ate them.

Kya had a wonderful weekend in St. Louis!

Throw Back Thursday...

August 26, 2012 - One of the best days of my life

I will never forget the moment when I crossed the finish line of Ironman Louisville and received the biggest hug ever from Ken.  It was the best feeling ever!  I hope to have that very same feeling in five more weeks as I attempt my second Ironman.

July...

It is so hard to believe it is July right now!  We have had mild temperatures all week and the temperature has been dipping down into the 50's overnight.  I know one person that is super pleased with the cooler temperatures...

Kya has been super thrilled about the cooler temps!

We have been getting to go running together, which never happens in July!  I really hope that this cooler Summer continues and perhaps on let's say, August 24th, it will be in the low 80's???  I do not think that is too much to ask.

Happy Running!

In the Thick of it All...

Peak training time is here!  It is that time where I smell of chlorine, eat more than Ken, and am oh so exhausted.  My dirty workout clothes definitely out number my normal clothes.  My tan lines are also getting really bad.  As in so bad that Ken told me he is not taking me to Mexico in November unless I do something about them.  :)

As much as I enjoy the long training rides, swims, and runs, I am looking forward to them being over.  I cannot wait until my crotchal area no longer feels like someone has had their way with me.  Yep, I just said that.

I have a 104 mile bike ride scheduled and then another couple longer rides and this puppy is in the bank.  I did go and do my first open water swim of the year and let's just say that Kill Creek Lake is not any cleaner than it was in 2012.  I was brutally attacked by seaweed, yet somehow survived to tell about it.  I will go open water swimming a few more times because no matter how often I do it, my first instant is too panic and think I cannot do it.  If only the Ohio River would become crystal clear with a blue line painted down the center like the pool at Lifetime...

Here's to the next few busy weeks!

There is a First Time for Everything...

You know, that moment when you are riding along and crossing railroad tracks and the next thing you are laid out on the pavement.

The scene of the accident

It was quite shockingly actually.  It was kind of like I blacked out for a half a second.  I ended up with a nasty scrape on my elbow and a few scrapes on my left ankle.

Fortunately, I was with my friend Jennie.  She ended up running into my bike because she could not turn her tires on the tracks because she would have flipped over as well.  Did I mention that I flipped over my handle bars?

We both ended up being fine and continued on with our ride.  I ended up with 50 miles that day and Jennie rode 40 of the with me.  The sad thing was that this was my first ever crash and my first ever ride with Jennie.  Fortunately, we have ridden many rides together since.

My lovely battle scar!

On top of my first wreck, I have also experienced my first flat tire.  Lucky for me, I was at home when it happened.  I did manage to get the tired changed after a little drama and the help of You Tube.  I was a dirty sweaty mess by the time it was over, but I managed.

I really hope I got all of these firsts out of the way and all goes well in Ironman Louisville!
