Royals Game...

Ken had tickets to the Royals game from work, so on Saturday night we made our way to the game with Brian and Jill.

If I am being completely honest, Jill and I talked the entire time and did not play attention to the game at all.

I do love baseball, but since it was not the Cardinals, I was not super interested in watching the game.

The best part of the night was when Jill knocked her funnel cake fries over and had powdered sugar all over her arm.  It was like a cast of powered sugar.

We went over to the Hall of Fame area and Jill and I had a little fun.

Being silly

We figured out that we could stand behind the number five and photo bomb people that were taking photos of the 5.  We were dying laughing.  I wonder how many pictures we were able to get into?

Jill demanded having her picture taken with this guy who was her favorite.  She claimed to be quite fond of his socks.

I had to have my picture with this guy.  I liked his glasses.

After we left the Hall of Fame area, came a lot of silliness.  Including some pretty funny pictures with Slugger.

Ken dared me and who am I to not complete a dare.

Jill and Slugger in a compromising position.

Honestly, Jill and I were completely sober too.

Thanks for a fun night Brian and Jill!

One Year Ago...

I cannot believe it has been one year since Ironman Lousiville

One year.

So much about it feels like it was just yesterday, but yet at times, it feels like the entire thing was just a dream.

I learned so much during the nine months of training and during the actual race itself.  I learned that I am far more stubborn than I ever thought I was.  My mom and Ken have always talked about my stubbornness, but now I fully know where they are coming from.

I learned that so many people make excuses for any and everything that they think they cannot do.  If you really want to do something, you can find a way.  Trust me.  Why do you think I decided to finally go back to school?  Good old Ironman training made me realize that I have no excuse not to.  Thank you Ironman Louisville.  :)

I learned that it is okay to be scared to do something.  I was scared to death to train for something that I was unfamiliar with.  At the end of the day, I did not always want to wish I had done something.  It was up to me to make it happen.

I was terrified of swimming in the open water.  After a little bit of research, I realized that most of the people out there felt the same way as I did at one time or another.  I also knew I would never get over the fear if I did not make myself do it.  I am just glad I did not drown.  :)

There are a few things about August 26, 2012 that I will never forget.

I will never forget the way I felt when Ken hugged me and told me goodbye at the swim start.  I had tears in my eyes and started to cry.  I was absolutely terrified.

I will never forget the moment that I realized I was approaching the finish of the swim.  I was literally smiling under water and was so thrilled that I did not drown.  I came out of the water with the biggest smile ever.

I will never forget the lowest moment of the day when I had to give myself a pep talk on the bike around mile 45.  I had come so far but still had so far to go.

I will never forget coming up the hill into downtown La Grange, about 20 miles after my pitty party, and seeing a handsome, tall, blonde man waving his heart out and realizing that it was MY husband.  My husband that skipped going on an urban bourbon tour so that he could see me one more time on the bike.  That moment, completely made my day and made me cry.

I will never forget turning the corner and heading into 4th Street Live and hearing those wonderful words:  You are an Ironman!  I smiled the entire way there and it was worth every moment.

I will never forget the moment that I was reunited with Ken.  The moment where he picked me up and told me how proud he was of me and that it was the most amazing thing he had ever seen.  That moment was the best moment of my entire life.

I will never forget reading all of the texts, emails, and Facebook messages from all of my friends.  I have never felt so much love in my life.

There is one other thing that I will never forget.  The moment when Ken asked me if I wanted to walk or take the shuttle back to the car, which was less than a half mile away.  I told him that I really thought the walk would do me well and that we should walk.  He kept asking me if I was sure I could make the walk.  Finally, I asked him why he did not walk me to walk.  His response was that he was chaffed.  Chaffed from spectating.  I had completed an Ironman and my husband was chaffed while spectating.  In his defense it was 96 degrees out most of the day.

One thing you must know is he will never, ever live that one down.

The Good Wife...

Let me paint you a picture:

Imagine a boy and a girl celebrating four years of marriage and starting to discuss how to celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary.  It has already been agreed that they will take a special trip to celebrate such occasion.

There was a little back and forth on deciding where to go.  Finally, it was decided that the beach was calling their name.  The destination:  Curacao.

Who would not want to go here?

A week of relaxing on the beach, drinking fruity drinks and wandering around the island?  Sign me up.

I was also looking forward to snorkeling, since I no longer fear for my life in the open water.  I was going to redeem myself after our honeymoon where I panicked and almost did not jump off the boat.

Anyway, we were ready to book the trip, we were just waiting on the airline schedule to be released for the end of May.

That is when it happened.  An email popped into my inbox from our friend Jean.  For those of you who do not know, Jean is our friend that organizes our trip to the Grand Canyon each year for the hike.

Ken and I had already decided that we were not going to hike in 2014 no matter what so I was curious to see what the email said.  Then I read the title.  The title of the email was River to Rim Rafting Trip 2014.

My heart sank.  I immediately knew that Ken would want to go.

Damn it.

I read over the people on the list and knew that my sweet little celebration in the Caribbean was over.  I knew we would be going on this trip with our group of friends.

I knew that we would no longer celebrate our anniversary in a luxurious hotel room, but now we would be celebrating in a tent.  What a lucky girl I am.

I read over the information and realized that this trip involves camping.  And a weight limit on person items.  25 pounds.  25 pounds.  I have to pack for a week and can only take 25 pounds.

I tossed around the idea of pitching a fit.  I may have protested a bit about the camping.  In the end, I do know this is something that is really important to Ken and it is a one time thing.

This will be us next April

So I will be sleeping outside along the Colorado River for five nights.

I know.

Don't worry, Ken is making it up to me big time come next December.  Unfortunately for him, the trip to the Caribbean was upgraded to something even better.

Wild Weekend...

Ken was out of town over the weekend, which can only mean that the hooligans and I partied all weekend.

Friday night started off with a wild walk with Kya.  We like to go out just before dark so we can hunt rabbits.
See, it was totally a wild night.

I woke up at 5:15 am on Saturday and took Kya running before meeting Susan for the remainder of my run.  I ended up running 16 miles total and it was wonderful!

After my run, someone talked me into taking her for a walk.  A run and a walk in the same morning.  What a spoiled husky.

After running and walking it was definitely time for coffee.  Speaking of coffee, if you have not tried the Founders Brownie Sundae creamer, run do not walk to the grocery store and try it now!

We lounged around for awhile. We may have watched a little Beverly Hills 90210...

Then we decided we should go for ice cream.  A good girl deserves a little ice cream.

She is in Heaven.

I ended up working a few hours at the store on Saturday night to end my wild day.

I spent Sunday shopping with Jill.

After Ken arrived home, he took me to dinner and a to a movie.  We saw We're the Millers and it was the funniest movie I have ever seen.  It was so funny!

The end of a great weekend.

Photo a Day...Week 25...

Day 176:  Another day, another cupcake.

Day 177:  She still hates taking pictures with me!

Day 178:  Angel and a little Jack Daniels.  If you know Angel, you know she is not afraid to sneak a sip of a margarita every now and then.

Day 179:  An exciting Friday night with Ken out of town.

Day 180:  Celebrating Avery's 2nd birthday.  Ken and I gave her a Fur Real cat, since she is in love with Angel.  She loved it!

Day 181:  Curious much?  And notice Hurley from Lost in the background?

Day 182:  They love hanging out on the landing of the stairs.
