Huskies for the Holidays...

Hi everyone, it is me Kya.

I wanted to take the time to let you know what I have planned for the holiday season.

As you all know, I love to run.  I loving running more than anything else.

I am also an adopted husky and have two pretty amazing parents (and two kitty cat siblings).  My parents adopted me and quickly spoiled me and have given me such a wonderful life.  I am very grateful for them and only wish that every dog that is up for adoption would end up with parents like mine.

I have been trying to think of a way to combine my love of running and a way to raise money for other animals in need.

That is when my dad suggested Huskies for the Holidays.

For every mile that I run or walk between Thanksgiving and New Years, my mom and dad will donate a dollar to a local Kansas City shelter.  If you know my mom, you know that she loves to run too and those dollars will add up fast.  Plus, with all of the time my dad takes off around Christmas, we will for sure rack up some miles hiking.

Mom and I have already run 10 miles so far!  Basically, I already have $10 in the bank.

On Sunday I turned 33.  While 33 is not particularly old, I am having a hard time believing that I am this age.  I kind of thought I was still in my 20's.
How did I spend my birthday?

In beautiful Wichita, KS.

Isn't what everyone dreams of doing?

Wichita, KS, where dreams come true.

Isn't it beautiful?

Ken had an event that he had to attend and he did not want me to spend my birthday by myself, so he had me join him.  I think he was afraid to leave me at home for fear that I would decorate for Christmas.  Don't worry Ken, that is coming on Saturday.  Anyway...

Ken kept insisting that this was a birthday party in my honor.

Ken and me.  This is my favorite new dress by the way.  I plan on wearing it a lot during the holidays.

With some of Ken's staff.
Me, Ken, Karly, and Kaitlyn.  Apparently, your name had to start with a K to be in the picture.

Ken and me being silly

It ended up being a great event and we had a lot of fun.

On the way home, look where we stopped:

I grew up getting Braum's ice cream and hate that we do not have one in Kansas City.  I may have had a moment inside Braum's.  I just love that place.

I did not care that it was only 10:30 am, I had to have my go to, a small, chocolate, M&M Mix.  It was everything I had hoped it would be.

Thanks for the fun weekend Ken!

A Nice Little Saturday...

Saturday was a beautiful Fall day.

Ken delighted me with a trip to the Plaza for sushi and shopping.

We went to Kona Grill and it did not disappoint.  Afterwards, we wondered around and got a latte.  My kind of day.

We ended up going to the World War I Museum.  Neither of us had been there before and it was quite intriguing.

I am in love with the Fall colors right now.

Liberty Memorial

We ended up getting in for free because of being Bank of America customers.  Apparently the first weekend of each month is BOA customer appreciation weekend.

Can you believe that two men fit in this thing?

We made our way to the top of the tower for the views.

It was such a beautiful day!

After our tour, we went to Martini Corner for a drink.  I had never been to Martini Corner before, since it is North of 87th Street after all.

Drinks at Tower Tavern

An apple martini, whiskey sour, and a chili dog.  Clearly, sushi did not satisfy Ken.

Thanks for the nice Saturday Ken!
