Europe 2022 Day 6: Around Lake Lucerne

We woke up the next morning with a forecast for rain in the morning. Ken woke up early and went for a run and returned with lattes and pastries. Ladies, that is the kind of man I married, one that returns with treats!

I got situated to go for a run and it ended up starting to pour on me. I kept going anyways just because it was so nice to run around the lake path and not be harrassed like I was in Amsterdam.

Running around Lake Lucerne

I returned to our hotel completely soaking wet and had a second round of lattes for us. After enjoying the rain from our balcony, we headed out for the day. We had plans to take the ferry to Weggis, one of the towns along the lake.

Weggis ended up being a bust. Almost everything was closed with it being a Tuesday. We wandered around for a bit and found a place to stop for Aperol Spritz before catching the ferry back to Lucerne. I do have to admit that part of the fun was riding the ferry. The views around Lake Lucerne are gorgeous.

Weggis was gorgeous, just not very busy

Happy on the ferry

We arrived back in Lucerne and found a wine bar for lunch. We sat there and enjoyed charcuterie and wine and watched people go by. It was a perfect little spot.  Afterwards, we walked around and shopped a bit.

We found a local Italian place across the river for dinner. Let me just say, I drank more Aperol Spritz on this vacation than on any other trip. I love them! We enjoyed our pasta dinner and then stopped at the Co-op and got small wine. We found a spot along the lake and sat there and enjoyed our wine and watched the sunset. We sure do love Lucerne!

Our wine view. The picture did not do it justice.

We enjoyed some chocolate in our room and called it a night. Thank goodness it was cooler today!
