A Little Gigi's Love...

Believe it or not, I am still eating my way through Gigi's Cupcakes.

I have taken a little break from over doing it on cupcakes, but have no fear, I am back.  With Ironman training looming, you can bet I will be stuffing my face silly with cupcakes.

Back in October, I tried the Apple Pie Cupcake.

Yes, I had two of them.  One was "supposed" to be for Ken, but we all know how that ended.

The Apple Pie cupcake was delicious.  It tasted just like an apple pie, which is why I am now questioning why I baked an apple pie for Christmas.  Next year, I am totally getting Gigi's Apple Pie cupcake instead.

Like I have said before, you can slap cream cheese frosting on anything, and I will eat it.  Cream Cheese frosting might be one of the best things ever.

Gigi's, It Has Been a While...

Oh yes, I am still eating my way through Gigi's, one cupcake at a time.

Mellow Cream and Sopapilla

The Mellow Cream was kind of like a hostess on steroids.  There was a nice little surprise filling on the inside.  Talk about yummy.  I have talked about how I recently have realized that I am not a chocolate cake fan due to the cake being dry.  Well, this one was super moist!

Ah, the Sopapilla, quite honestly I bet these are served in Heaven.  It was hands down, one of the best things I have ever tasted.  Ken and I split it and I immediately regretted offering him half of it.  I may have fought him to lick the plate, it was that good.  It was the perfect mixture of cinnamon and cream cheese.  I cannot wait to eat more of these next summer.

A Little Gigi's and a New Favorite...

I personally feel if you are having a bad day, that you should run right out and get yourself a cupcake.  Better yet, get two, one might not be enough.  Words to live by.

Each week I check out Gigi's website and see what new cupcake I can try next.  I had decided that I should try Miss Princess and Wedding Cake.  I am not going to lie, I had tried the Wedding Cake before and loved it.  Unfortunately, it was prior to my "I want to try ever flavor" challenge, so I did not have a picture.  I can only think of one way to fix that problem...

Here they are in all their glory.  Miss Princess and Wedding Cake.

Miss Princess was a little surprising.  There is a hit of strawberry in the cake mix and it was quite deliciously.  I was hesitant to try it because while I love strawberries, I am not a huge fan of strawberry in cake or ice cream.  Miss Princess did not disappoint.  I think it was the cream cheese frosting that sealed the deal.  Bravo Gigi, bravo.

And Wedding Cake.  I may as well just stop the challenge right now and concede defeat.  This has to be the best cupcake I have had.  It is so delicious.  The odd thing is, it is such a simple cupcake.  It really does taste like wedding cake and I get the feeling that I could eat about four of them without hesitation.  This should come to no surprise because at weddings I have been known to eat multiple pieces of cake.

Even Ken loved the Wedding Cake cupcake.  Yes, I was nice enough to give him a bite.  

I Missed You Gigi's!

I really thought about trying to take a doze of cupcakes with me to the Grand Canyon to enjoy on the North Rim.  I thought long and hard about it, but realized that they may not do too well be in the desert.  So, I decided I would wait until I got home.  Although, a Gigi's cupcake would have been the best thing ever after hiking 21 miles!

Banana Cream Pie and Double Stuff

I bought the Banana Cream Pie for Ken, I really did.  It is not my fault that he did not eat it.  I offered it to him, he declined, so I ate it.  Isn't that how it works at everyone's house?  Yeah, I know I had already eaten my cupcake, but that is not the point.

The Banana Cream Pie was what I like to call a sleeper.  It is not something I would normally buy.  I am not a huge fan of bananas.  This usually shocks people because for whatever reason, all runners like bananas.  Well, I do not. 

Anyway, back to the cupcake.  It was really good!  I liked it.  It was not super banana-ie, which I am sure helped.  Also, you can probably slap buttercream frosting on a brick and I would tell you I love it. 

Clearly, the Double Stuff was meant for me.  Something that has an Oreo ontop or looks like a Oreo? 

Sold.  I will take it.

It was really good.  I am still learning that chocolate cake, as much as it pains me to say this, is starting to not be my favorite anymore.  I know, chocolate cake Gods, please do not hate me.  This cake was a dark chocolate cake, which I really liked.  Again, it had the wonderful buttercream frosting layered ontop and I ate every morsel of the darn thing. 

At this point, the Candy Bar Crunch is still in the lead as the favorite. Don't worry, I will be back next week with more cupcakes.

Oh Gigi's...

Two more cupcakes.  How is it that my pants still fit?  

I had noticed during one of my visits to Gigi's that there was a special cupcake during the month of April.  Well, any cupcake obsessed girl has to try it out right?  So I planned a visit on a Saturday when I could by such cupcake.

I am not going to lie, I was a little skeptical.  I am not a huge cherry fan unless they are at the bottom of an apple martini.

But, this one did not disappoint!  The chocolate ice was to die for and the cake had just the right amount of cherry in it.

I also decided to try Candy Bar Crunch.  The description of this one alone called my name.  

Yellow cake with bits of Butterfinger® baked in, topped with Butterfinger® buttercream frosting and crushed Butterfingers®.

I mean, who would not want to jump all over that?  Butterfinger?  Somebody stop me.

With that being said, I think I must kick the current favorite, Chocolate Salted Carmel, to the curb and make room for Candy Bar Crunch.  Poor thing, did not even see it coming!

I Still Love Gigi's...

So in continuing on with my goal of trying all of the cupcakes at Gigi's, I have two really good ones for you today.

One day when I was in there for my usual two cupcakes, I asked one of the ladies that works there what her favorite cupcake is.  She told me that it is none other than Kentucky Bourbon Pie.

So I did what any other cupcake obessed person would do, I made plans to stop by the store on the following Saturday to try this wonderful cupcake.  I, of course, told Ken that I bought it for him.

So what did I think?  It was good but I would not say it was my favorite.  The lady at the store raved like it was so fabulous and I would agree that it was good, just not that good.  Too each their own.

I also tried the Chocolate Cola Cake cupcake.  I loved this one!  I could not shovel it into my mouth fast enough.  Plus, isn't it just cute?  I mean look at the little straw. 

Of the four I have already discussed, I would say that the Chocolate Salted Carmel is in the lead as my favorite, at least for now anyway. 

On a Mission...

On top of working, attending classes, running, and everything else I do on a daily basis, I decided to add one more goal to the list:  try every cupcake at Gigi's Cupcakes.

I know, I really should not put such strict goals on myself.

My friends have all heard me rave about the cupcakes at Gigi's.  They are just too good for words.  They are very icing heavy, so if you are at all like me, you find each bite to be a bit of heaven.

A few weeks ago I realized that I was stopping by Gigi's once a week and getting two cupcakes.  You know, one for me and one for Ken.  Or more like, one for me and one to split with Ken, if he's lucky.  :)  So I figured why not make it a goal to test every cupcake they make?  I mean, I am going to be training for the Chicago Marathon again, I am going to need the fuel.

Without further ado, here are the first round of cupcakes:  I give you Margarita and Chocolate Salted Carmel. 

Side note:  I bought these cupcakes on a Friday night while Ken was out of town.  I called Michelle and told her I had two cupcakes and that Ken was out of town and I was going home to eat both of them.  Eat both of them I did.

I was a little skeptical about the margarita flavored cupcake, but it was quite delicious.  It is not something that I would eat on a regular basis, but it was good for a change. 

About the chocolate salted carmel, well, I could not inhale this thing fast enough.  It has this gooey carmel surprise on the inside, making it super moist.  It short, it was delicious.
