Germany and Italy 2023...Day 8: Verona

We woke up on Tuesday and said farewell to Ortisei. Mike and Katie were eventually heading to Paris and we had plans to go to the Amalfi Coast. We decided going to Verona would be best for a night so that Mike and Katie could take a direct flight the next morning.

We took the train to Verona and arrived around in the afternoon. We were all very hot. The heat wave was just too much. Not having air conditioning in Ortisei was wearing on all of us more than we thought. We we arrived at our hotel in Verona, we all decided to relax for a bit in the air conditioning. It was a very modern hotel and the air conditioning felt amazing!

After relaxing, we decided to head out and check out Verona. We were staying right next to the train station so we had about a 10-minute walk to old town Verona.

We just wandered around Verona. We found a spot for gelato and walked and looked around the market.

The architecture in Verona was really beautiful.

We found a little spot for dinner. I have to say that this was the hottest I think all of us had been on the entire trip. We were all dying despite being in the shade. Our dinner was lovely, but the heat was just awful.

We finished dinner and walked to see Juliet's balcony. Sadly, it was closed. There was a store next door that was embroidering different items. Katie and I walked inside to check it out and found that the store offered a beautiful view of Juliet's balcony.  It was amazing to see it and not have to take a photo through the gate like everyone else was doing.

We stopped at a wine store on the way back to the hotel and bought a little wine to enjoy at the hotel before calling it a night. We were sad that Mike and Katie were leaving us, but happy that they were leaving to go to a location they were excited about!
