Europe 2021...Day 3...Back in Lauterbrunnen

I slept so well on our flight that I missed breakfast!  I remember waking up laying on my stomach and hearing an announcement about making our descent.  I requested a cup of coffee and chugged it before we landed in Zurich.

Back on European soil.  It had been way too long.  We quickly cleared customs, bought train tickets, and we were on a train to Lauterbrunnen.  We were both so excited.

We arrived in Lauterbrunnen and it was just like the last time we visited in 2017.  It felt so nice to be back in familiar territory.

Walking out of the train station felt just like it did on our first trip in 2014.  It is still the most beautiful place that I have visited.

Welcome to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland.

Back in Lauterbrunnen.  It felt so nice to be back!

I am not sure that Lauterbrunnen has a bad angle!

We made our way to our hotel, Hotel Staubbach, and familiar faces greeted us.  The staff was so kind to us in regards to our delay and held our amazing room with the best view for us.

The view from our hotel balcony.  I did not ever want to leave.

We had the best room in the hotel!

After a warm welcome, we dropped off our baggage and made our way day the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

We have decided that walking down the valley is one of our favorite things to do together.

With Swiss National Day approaching,  everyone had Swiss flags out to celebrate.

My favorite house in Lauterbrunnen

They even sell cheese!!!

There is a tiny little hut near the end of the valley by one of the cable cars.  We stopped there for a few drinks and enjoyed listening to some of the locals before taking the cable car up to Murren.

Everyone is ready for Swiss National Day!

Murren with the clouds hiding the mountains

One of the shops in Murren

We went to Hotel Bellevue to enjoy a few drinks and some charcuterie.  We were so excited to get up into the mountains that we forgot to eat lunch.  Most places stop serving lunch at 2:00 pm and only serve cold options until 5:00.  It is a good thing we both love charcuterie!

The view from Hotel Bellevue.  I hate that it was so cloudy, but the clouds add a little mystery.

It eventually started to rain, so we moved underneath an awning since we were not going to allow a little rain to ruin anyday in Switzerland!

Not at all bothered by a little rain when there is wine and charcuterie!

Raining in Murren at Hotel Bellevue

The rain stopped and we walked from Murren to Gimmelwald.  We stopped by our favorite little biergarten in Switzerland and met a nice guy from Sweden.  We enjoyed a few drinks with him and talked about how Covid in Germany, which is where he has been living.  We gave him a few tips for hiking options since it was his first time in the area.  Soon enough it was time to get back to the valley floor so that we could go enjoy some Swiss fondue for dinner.

Welcome to Gimmewald!

I love all of the flower boxes that are on all of the homes

The biergarten now has craft beer!

As much as I like to think this is a tiny house, I am pretty sure this is a building where firewood is stored.  Look how adorable it is!

After arriving back to the valley floor, we stopped off at the little hut and got take away drinks for our walk down the valley.  We recorded several silly videos while walking back, which I will spare you from seeing.  We laughed and had so much fun.  It felt so nice to be in such a familar place.

Haveing the time of our lives!

We enjoyed wine and Swiss fondue at Hotel Oberland.  I had forgotten how much I love Swiss fondue.

Walking back to our hotel after a great first day.

We loved the view from our balcony!

Enjoying the view of the church while we watched the clouds roll into the valley.

Thank you, Switzerland for allowing vaccinated Americans to visit!
