Theodore...

This is one of those posts that you hope to never have to write, but sadly, here we are.  Theodore Roosevelt, my beloved little boy, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018.  It was the saddest situation I have ever been a part of and I am completely heart broken.

As a pet owner, I feel like we always hope that there will be signs from our babies that it is time.  Fortunately and unfortunately, we saw those signs on Monday.  We loved Theodore so much that we would never want him to suffer.  On Monday morning I knew the situation was not good, so he and I spent the day snuggling together and watching the Sound of Music, Theodore's favorite movie.  I fed my little boy chicken broth in bed and enjoyed the day with him.  I am so glad we had those last moments together, but am heart broken that we will never have another movie day together again.  Theodore lived a wonderful 16 years and I think we can all agree that he was very, very loved.

Theodore passed away very peacefully with Ken and me both at his side.  It was the most humane thing we could do for our little Theo.  Here is a little more all about Theo with a lot of pictures included, some are even pictures of pictures because that is how far we go back.

Theodore was quite the demon kitty.  When I first got him, I was unsure if I would be able to handle such a little hooligan cat.

Theo got into everything and I mean everything.  I swear he thought his name was "Theodore, No!" for the first year of his life.

I had no idea how much I would come to love this little hooligan.

Theodore grew from being this devilish-little kitten into this big-lovable kitty.  At one point in his life, he weighed in at about 18 pounds.

Theodore and me in 2003.  Look at how big my my baby is!

My green-eyed baby

Helping me pack to prepare to move to Kansas City.  I will never forget the first time Ken saw Theo and was shocked at his size and presence.

Theo adjusting to life in Kansas City.  What boy does not love a box, Theo always enjoyed playing in boxes.  Look at all of that fur!

He always loved the sink.  Up until his last day on Earth, I would turn the sink on for him to drink out of the faucet.  Clearly the sink water was the best water in the house, preferably out of Uncle Ken's sink in the bathroom.  :)

Theodore had a love of playing with drinking straws.  He used to steal them from cups and would even fetch them.

That is most likely a stolen straw

Theodore absolutely LOVED his sister Angel.  He snuggled with her every chance he had.  He was also notorious for giving her kisses only for her to start kissing him.  It was in the moment that you realized he had manipulated her into getting exactly what he wanted, her love.

True love

His arm around his sissy melts my heart.  He really loved her.

All three of my babies snuggled in and watching a movie with mom

Planning overseas travel.  Truth be told, Theodore was looking at Salzburg for the Sound of Music sites and Angel was more interested in Munich for the beer.

Hanging out with both of his sisters

Theodore was so very handsome.  He had the softest fur of anyone in our house and I loved petting him.

He really loved his mama

His facial expressions were always so dramatic

Theo loved to help me study and I feel like he would have wanted to go to school to be a kitty doctor.  He also was my assistant during my work from home days.

Studying anatomy.

Quizzing his mama so she can get into nursing school

Executive assistant, Theodore.  He looks like he could be the associate of the month.

Much like his mama, Theo loved Christmas time.  His favorite thing to do was to steal the bows off of the wrapped presents and run around with them.  He was such a goofball.

My favorite present under the Christmas tree

He could have cared less about his gifts, he just wanted a bow!

Theo completely full of himself on Christmas morning.  He has his stocking, his bows, mice, and canned cat food.  What more could a boy want.

Stealing a bow like a boss

Both hooligans informing Kya that they are in charge and she can have her stocking when they say so.

Theo was very much full of life and quite the goofball.  He would do some of the most random, hilarious things on a daily basis.

Weirdo

Watching Lost with mom and hiding his head in Chex Mix

Trying to bust open the food.  Theo was all about the food!

Being a creeper.  It might look like he wanted to come outside, but trust me, that is the last thing he wanted.

Caught mid-yawn

All other things aside, Theodore was a big-fluffy lazy boy.  That boy could sleep and looked so precious doing it.  He was also the king of finding the best hiding spots in the house.

Precious

The paw covering the face was always my favorite

The guest bed was one of the most comfortable places in the whole house, mainly because access was limited.

He could always be found in this spot when I came in from my runs.

Theodore was so special.  I told Ken that the only thing I wanted was for him to leave this world knowing how loved he was.  Ken assured me that he knew.  There will never be another Theo.  He was the first boy I ever loved.  He was my entertainment, the man of the house when Uncle Ken was traveling, my slumber party buddy, my Friends watching partner, and my ice cream buddy.

There is never a good time to lose our pets, however, I am so grateful that I got to have the last day that I had with my baby Theo.

If only pets could live forever.

Theodore Roosevelt, the green-eyed love of my life.
