Wine Country...Day 1

Well hello there!  It has been a while.  Work and school have been keeping me quite busy.  Back in July Ken and I snuck away for a quick little getaway to California wine country!  Like most of the country, we were itching to go on vacation.  Armed with our N95's we boarded a flight to San Francisco and were on our way!

Our flight was completely dead, as was the airport.  We felt extremely safe flying and on our entire trip.

Our first stop was my favorite to see my favorite bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge!  We found a place to part and wandered around by the water.  It was a beautiful, clear day, which I think can be rare in San Fran.

We walked up to a beautiful view point and got some beautiful pictures of the bridge.

It was such a beautiful day to be in California!

Alcatraz off in the distance

So excited to be on vacation with my favorite person!

We drove from San Francisco to Petaluma, where we stopped for lunch.  We were happy that outside seating was plentiful and enjoyed a delicious lunch of Italian food and wine.

Our darling little lunch spot.  We had a view overlooking the river.

Downtown Petaluma along the river.  It was such a lovely day and we walked around and found a little wine shop where we bought wine for our little cottage.

We drove the rest of the way to Jenner, CA which is right on the mouth of the Russian River.  We rented a convertible and drove with the top down all the way to Jenner.  We stopped off at a local creamery for chocolate shakes before arriving on the Pacific coast where we would spend the next four nights.

The view from our deck.  It was the perfect spot to enjoy a bottle of wine!

We walked up to a little wine bar, Tasting by the Sea, and enjoyed a bottle of wine and some sandwiches.

Wine and a view, yes please!

Enjoying the view and the company

We ended our first night with a great view, great wine, and amazing company.  It was a good reminder of how much I have missed visiting Northern California.
